Responsibilities Greet clients warmly and manage all front desk activities with enthusiasm, including scheduling appointments and answering inquiries. Collect payments, process medical billing, and handle insurance documentation accurately and efficiently. Maintain detailed records of patient visits, treatments, and medical histories using veterinary software systems. Assist with animal restraint during examinations or procedures, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Support veterinary team members with laboratory procedures, sample collection, and basic animal husbandry tasks. Manage communication with clients regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and medication instructions clearly and professionally. Uphold compliance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines during medication handling and record keeping. Coordinate kennel operations by overseeing animal care, feeding, cleaning, and ensuring proper animal husbandry practices are followed. Support veterinary critical care efforts by assisting during emergencies or surgical procedures as needed. Maintain a clean, organized reception area and ensure all veterinary supplies are stocked appropriately. Skills Proven experience in veterinary clinic administration or front desk support within a veterinary setting. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, and companion animal medicine. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with veterinary software programs for scheduling, record keeping, and billing purposes. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques; kennel experience is highly valued. Basic laboratory experience including sample processing and understanding of aseptic techniques. Knowledge of dog handling skills and general animal restraint methods to assist veterinarians during examinations or procedures. Competency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and correspondence purposes. Understanding of veterinary critical care protocols, animal anatomy knowledge, and pet care best practices. Awareness of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA standards related to medication management.
