Job Description:
The Technology Department is seeking a student for employment. This position is funded by the university. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to apply for this position. Please see below for specific duties and responsibilities for the Help Desk Clerk position. Assists the department with general clerical duties including greeting customers, answering phone calls and monitoring the ticket tracking software. This person must be a strong communicator and provide exceptional customer service. Answers phone calls in accordance to University policy. Provides information and assistance or routes caller to appropriate staff member. Takes phone or visitor messages and delivers to appropriate individual. Greets visitors in the office and directs them to appropriate individual. Composes and types routine communications or inputs data using Microsoft Office software. Assists Help Desk Supervisor with monitoring office supplies.
Operates office equipment:
copy/scanning machine, office computers•MAC and PC. Stays informed with campus and Technology Department related common knowledge concerning events, rules and regulations. Establishes and maintains permanent files; files and retrieves files as requested. Checks Help Desk email account and ticketing system for problems and questions from students, faculty and staff. Participates in Technology training programs. Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Must have a basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite. Must have a professional appearance and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be flexible and have a positive attitude. Must be able to work well both in a team setting and independently. Must have flexible availability outside of class schedule. Must have ability to multitask while providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have effective public speaking skills Must be a full time undergraduate student and Fitchburg State University.
Additional Information:
Flexible scheduling based on student availability Coverage needed during Help Desk operating hours (daytime, evening, and limited weekend shifts) PT, non-benefited, student only position with an hourly rate of $15.00 Fitchburg State University is an equal opportunity employer.
