POSITION PURPOSE
The Receptionist will provide outstanding customer service to the school and public by offering clear communication, assisting with problem-solving, and supporting materials acquisition. This position involves performing a range of administrative duties including data collection, document scanning, and file maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Note:

Greet visitors and staff upon arrival and departure, offering assistance as required. Perform various clerical duties, including scanning, filing, answering phone calls, and utilizing software programs to maintain records/files. Perform tasks under direct supervision following defined policies and procedures. Work is periodically reviewed by supervisor or upper management, with some room for independent judgment and decision-making. Utilize appropriate software applications, ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures, to manage records and files. Complete special assignments as directed by the supervisor. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of three years of office experience, preferably in an educational setting.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to multi-task projects while greeting visitors and staff. OTHER SKILLS and
ABILITIES
Ability to type accurately and have strong computer skills. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. This position will be for 1 hour per day to cover lunch break. Potential for more hours to cover vacation and illness as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost continuously required to sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in typing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is continuously interacting with the staff and students. Strong organizational skills required to facilitate completion of tasks secondary to visitor or student interruptions. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment.
