Medical Assistant - Adult Primary Care Practice Governor's Village Medical Center 40115 Moring, Chapel Hill, NC Governor's Village Medical Center is a primary care medical office focused on adult patients, with particular emphasis on older adults and longitudinal, relationship-based care. The practice is designed to be lower volume, with an emphasis on professionalism, organization, patient service, and continuity. We are seeking a reliable, professional front desk medical receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and to help support day-to-day clinic operations. Position Summary The front desk receptionist will be responsible for patient communication, scheduling, check-in/check-out, demographic and insurance verification, payment collection, records coordination, and general front office support. The ideal candidate is organized, courteous, dependable, comfortable working with older adults, and able to manage multiple administrative responsibilities in a medical office setting.
Position Benefits:
Full-time, salaried position Clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch closure

10 paid holidays + 15 additional paid clinic-closure days annually Annual performance-based salary increase Predictable weekday schedule Lower-volume adult primary care setting Responsibilities Greet patients in a professional and welcoming manner Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments Perform patient check-in and check-out Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and contact information Collect copays, self-pay balances, and other patient payments Maintain accurate patient information in Elation EMR; training will be provided Request and track outside medical records Scan, upload, and route documents appropriately Assist with referral-related communication and coordination Monitor and respond to patient portal or email communications as assigned Help maintain an organized, friendly, and professional front office environment Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, clinicians, and outside offices Qualifications Minimum 1 year of medical office experience required Ideal candidates will have 3-5+ years of front desk experience in a primary care or outpatient medical office Prior experience as a medical receptionist or similar role required Familiarity with electronic medical records preferred; Elation EMR training will be provided Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills Professional appearance and demeanor Attention to detail and ability to follow through on tasks Ability to handle confidential information appropriately Comfortable collecting payments and discussing routine administrative matters with patients Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently in a small-office environment Preferred Skills Medical office experience Experience with insurance eligibility verification Experience using an electronic health record system Experience with Elation EMR preferred, but not required; training will be provided Strong organizational skills Comfort assisting older adults with appointments, forms, records, and communication How to Apply Interested applicants should submit a resume and a brief statement of interest describing relevant medical office, front desk, scheduling, patient communication, or healthcare administrative experience.
