Temporary Medical Front Office Assistant Potential for Permanent Employment Pecora Ophthalmology - Endicott, NY Work location: In person About Us Pecora Ophthalmology is a patient-centered medical practice committed to providing excellent care in a professional, welcoming, and efficient environment. We are seeking a dependable, organized, and computer-proficient Medical Front Office Assistant to join our team. Position Summary This is a temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent , based on the needs of the practice, job performance, reliability, and overall fit. The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable using computers, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy medical office. Excellent customer service, attention to detail, and sound judgment are essential. Responsibilities Greet and check in patients courteously and professionally Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments Answer and manage multiple telephone lines efficiently Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments Collect patient payments and accurately post them to patient accounts Scan, upload, and correctly file medical records in the electronic system Enter prescription requests for physician review and approval Request prior authorizations for appointments, procedures, and medications Prepare, organize, and file patient documents Respond to patient questions and help resolve concerns Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff Perform additional front-office duties as assigned Qualifications Previous medical office or medical front desk experience required Strong computer skills required Experience verifying commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid eligibility Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain organized Excellent communication and customer-service skills Dependable, punctual, and professional Strong attention to detail and accuracy Prescription-request and prior-authorization experience preferred Electronic medical record experience preferred Benefits Benefits are based on employment status and eligibility.
