Job Description
Job Overview Patient Outreach Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a dependable, professional, and motivated Full-Time Secretary/Receptionist to join our home health agency in Bethlehem, PA. The successful candidate must be comfortable making outbound phone calls to physician offices, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehabilitation facilities, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare providers to introduce our services, maintain professional relationships, and seek patient referrals. We are looking for someone who is organized, personable, confident on the phone, and willing to take initiative. Responsibilities Answer and route incoming phone calls professionally. Manage emails, faxes, correspondence, and incoming documents. Greet and assist visitors, patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Assist with processing new patient referrals and intake documentation. Enter and update patient information in the agency's EMR/EHR system. Maintain organized patient and employee records. Assist with scheduling and communication with nurses, therapists, aides, and other field staff. Follow up with physician offices for orders, plans of care, signatures, and missing documentation. Assist with insurance verification, authorization, and billing-related administrative tasks as needed. Make regular outbound calls to physician offices, hospitals, SNFs, rehabilitation facilities, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare organizations to seek patient referrals . Introduce Patient Outreach Healthcare and explain our home health services to potential referral sources. Build and maintain professional relationships with referral sources. Follow up with existing and prospective referral sources regarding potential patients who may need home health services. Maintain a record of outreach calls, contacts, follow-ups, and referrals received. Assist with sending referral forms, brochures, and agency information to healthcare providers. Assist with employee onboarding paperwork and other general office duties. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and agency policies. Qualifications High school diploma or higher required. 1-2 years of administrative healthcare office experience preferred. Strong telephone communication and customer service skills. Must be comfortable making outbound calls and speaking professionally with physician offices, hospitals, SNFs, case managers, and other healthcare professionals. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and email. Ability to learn and use EMR/EHR systems. Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work independently. Preferred Experience Experience in home health, hospice, home care, a physician's office, hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other healthcare environment is preferred but not required. Experience with any of the following is a plus: Home health referrals and intake Medical terminology EMR/EHR systems such as Alora Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care Prior authorization and insurance verification Healthcare marketing or referral outreach Ideal Candidate We are particularly interested in someone who is confident and professional on the telephone and not hesitant to make outbound calls . You should be comfortable contacting healthcare professionals, introducing our agency, asking about referral opportunities, following up consistently, and developing long-term professional relationships.
