Job Overview We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and dependable Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for client families, visitors, and callers. In this role, you will help create a welcoming and comfortable environment while providing courteous front-desk and general administrative support. Because you will regularly interact with families during sensitive and emotional circumstances, this position requires exceptional professionalism, discretion, empathy, and the ability to handle confidential matters with tact and diplomacy. What You'll Do Welcome and greet families, guests, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Offer assistance to guests entering the building and help direct them to the appropriate location. Notify staff when appointments arrive and escort guests to the appropriate room when needed. Answer routine questions regarding services, products, directions, and other general inquiries. Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls to the appropriate staff members. Immediately notify management of customer service concerns, security issues, or other situations requiring additional assistance. Receive and handle deceased individuals' belongings from family members while carefully following established chain-of-custody procedures. Help maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment for client families by providing beverages and other amenities as needed. Maintain the guest waiting area by straightening furniture, replacing tissues, disposing of trash, and keeping the area neat and presentable. Receive and distribute incoming mail and packages. Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic and paper files and records, including Certificates of Ownership. Provide general administrative support, which may include light typing, proofreading, data entry, printing, copying, and other office tasks. Operate standard office equipment, including telephones, copiers, and fax machines. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong verbal communication skills and a clear, professional speaking voice. Professional and courteous demeanor. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion. Demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment when interacting with families, visitors, and staff. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently while also supporting a team. Preferred Qualifications Six months of experience in a receptionist, administrative support, customer service, or general office role. Experience working in a professional environment where discretion, confidentiality, and compassion are important. Familiarity with standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone systems, copiers, and fax machines. Schedule Requirements This position requires flexibility to work Saturdays and/or Sundays and outside of standard business hours , based on business and family needs. The ideal candidate is warm, composed, organized, and dependable.
