Lexington Church of God Receptionist / Ministry Assistant About Us Lexington Church of God is a church to the community, and we're looking for someone who loves interacting with people from all walks of life. This position is vital to our church — you'll be the face of Lexington Church of God. We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic who is dependable, a team player, compassionate to the needs of others, and eager to serve. We look forward to meeting you! Job Summary The Receptionist/Ministry Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to help keep our church running smoothly — answering phones, drafting and sending emails, arranging appointments, taking messages, filing documents, organizing meetings, and managing databases. This role also supports each of our Staff Pastors and our Operations Manager with clerical duties. Daily Activities
  • Answer telephones, give information to callers, take detailed messages, and/or transfer calls to the appropriate individuals
  • Greet guests and callers, and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate person
  • Input visitor information into the CDM+ database, write postcards, and generate follow-up letters
  • Use computers for database management, designing marketing materials, and updating website information
  • Operate office equipment (copiers, phone systems) and arrange for repairs when needed
  • Set up and manage paper and electronic filing systems — attendance records, correspondence, and other materials
  • Schedule appointments for staff and guests as needed
  • Operate email systems and coordinate the flow of information internally and with other organizations
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the church facility
  • Monitor and maintain office, kitchen, and cleaning supply levels Required Skills Office Routine Activities Prepare and perform the day-to-day activities required to keep an office running smoothly — tidying up, updating our website, mailing, receiving and maintaining supplies, updating the visitor database, and general clerical support.
Microsoft Office Capable use of standard Microsoft Office programs: create and format documents, insert graphics, generate tables of contents, and mail-merge form letters from a database of addresses (typically in Poster My Wall, Excel, or Canva). Build auto-calculating spreadsheets, create images, and sort/filter data tables. Other Core Skills

  • CDM+ — our church management software, used to maintain visitor and membership records, visitor follow-up, mass communication, and more
  • Planning Center — used for check in, registrations, small groups, and church database
  • Canva / Poster My Wall— used for designing postings, and church signage
