The Medical Office Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is critical in managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records to support efficient clinical operations. The receptionist facilitates clear communication between patients, medical staff, and administrative personnel, contributing to a seamless healthcare experience. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred. Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with insurance verification processes and healthcare regulations. Advanced proficiency in EHR software and office productivity tools. 2 years experience in healthcare; preferably in an outpatient mental health or primary care setting
Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously upon arrival. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members. Verify patient insurance information and assist with the completion of necessary forms. Maintain accurate and organized patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Coordinate patient flow by communicating effectively with medical staff regarding patient arrivals and delays. Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries as needed. Manage office supplies and ensure the reception area is clean and welcoming.
