POSITION SUMMARY
The weekend receptionist works part-time greeting visitors, checking them in, and communicating their presence to the appropriate staff. Answer multi-line telephone and direct calls to appropriate staff/units of the hospital. Performs administrative tasks or organization of patient charts at desk between calls/visitors. Expected to give a minimum of two (2) weeks notice prior to voluntary resignation. A probationary period of 90 days is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Answers calls within three (3) rings and directs call appropriately in a professional and courteous manner. Utilizes paging system in a professional and courteous manner. Greets and assists all visitors, patients & vendors ensuring visitors sign in on the Visitor Sign-In Sheet. Assists the various units with coordination of visitors, paging and administrative tasks where necessary. Codes and inputs daily charges accurately and performs filing duties or chart organization as needed Files paperwork in patient files in a prompt and accurate manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and some lifting. Position involves both working independently, and working with others. Rarely will be exposed to hazardous/infectious material. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent (documentation of completion is required). Must be in good mental health and physical condition and willing to work with psychiatric patients & families. Must have excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and be reliable as hours are on weekends. Have the ability to handle hazardous/infectious waste on a rare basis. Have the ability to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds on an occasional basis. Have the ability to communicate verbally, see well enough to read written material and discern a variety of odors continuously.
