Overview:
Novant Health is seeking a detail-oriented Switchboard Operator to support hospital communications and safety monitoring at Rowan Medical Center. This position plays a key role in implementing emergency procedures and ensuring efficient communication across the facility.

Education :
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience :
Minimum of one year experience as switchboard operator, preferred. Additional Skills (required): Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and all levels of authority. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be flexible and able to respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment. Must demonstrate ability to type at least 30 wpm. Manual dexterity necessary to operate computerized switchboard console and keyboard. Ability to work alone during day, evening, and night. Ability to see and read. Must possess a clear, pleasant and professional telephone voice and manner. Ability to hear and understand phone calls.
What You'll Do:
Operate a computerized switchboard console to manage internal and external calls Monitor critical hospital systems including the fire panel, blood bank, oxygen panel, and elevators Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate routing and alert protocols Maintain calm and professionalism during high-pressure situations Ensure timely and accurate communication with staff, departments, and emergency services
