FNTIC provides title insurance, underwriting, escrow and closing services to residential, commercial and industrial clients, lenders, developers, attorneys, real estate professionals and consumers. For more than 170 years, FNTIC has provided title insurance and related services for many of the largest and most prestigious real estate transactions, from historic landmarks to modern skyscrapers, hospitals to hotels, and shopping centers to sports arenas. Our Michigan Commercial operation is looking for seasoned title examiners with knowledge of title searching, abstracting, and underwriting in the State of Michigan. As our Commercial Title Examiner, you'll delve into a wide variety of transactions, from land projects to green power initiatives, plus multi-site, multi-state real estate transactions.Duties:
Search and examine basic and complex real estate chains of title. Prepare title commitments in accordance with company standards. Identify legal descriptions based on both platted and metes and bounds descriptions with an ability to accurately draw metes and bounds descriptions. Examine ALTA surveys, identify items affecting the title commitment, and apply the information to issuance ALTA endorsements as applicable. Independently manage your own files from beginning to end. Underwrite files within your approved authority limit, review title objection letters, and produce a pro forma package acceptable to all parties. Collaborate with other commercial department personnel and state underwriting counsel regarding complex issues. Participate in business development to maintain existing clientele and acquire new clients.Education:
High School Diploma Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of Michigan commercial title examining experience Solid understanding of real estate law and possess the ability to assess legal documents that may impact real estate transactions. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the title industry. Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal skills. Self-motivated with an ability to meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple transactions at a time and provide customer response in a timely fashion.
