As a Tree Climber, you will utilize your expertise in arborist rigging techniques, tree care, and climbing safety protocols to perform tree trimming, pruning, removal, and other essential forestry tasks. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure that every project is completed efficiently while adhering to the highest safety standards. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, develop your horticultural skills, and contribute to the health and safety of our community's trees. Duties Safely climb trees using specialized equipment such as harnesses, ropes, and rigging gear to access difficult or hazardous areas. Perform tree pruning, trimming, and removal with precision to promote tree health and safety. Operate bucket trucks and other aerial lift equipment for elevated work tasks. Utilize arborist rigging techniques to dismantle large or hazardous limbs safely. Conduct site assessments using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for mapping and planning purposes. Follow strict safety protocols during all outdoor work activities to prevent accidents or injuries. Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as lawn care and general plant care when needed. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including tree health assessments and rigging plans. Qualifications Proven experience in outdoor work environments with a focus on horticulture, landscaping, or arboriculture. Strong knowledge of tree care practices including pruning, trimming, and tree removal techniques. Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts safely and effectively. Skilled in arborist rigging techniques for safe dismantling of large trees or limbs. Familiarity with GIS technology for mapping or planning purposes is a plus. Ability to use chainsaws and other power tools safely while adhering to safety protocols. Knowledge of dendrology (the study of trees) and general plant care principles. Demonstrated growing experience in horticulture or landscaping fields preferred. Excellent physical fitness for climbing, lifting heavy equipment, and working at heights over extended periods.
