Preferred:

Two or Four-year degree in a green industry ISA Certification Regional plant and horticulture knowledge: Tree Identification Pest identification and control, Pruning principles and techniques, Diagnostic and recommendation skills Excellent sales and communication skills Good people skills; self-motivated; computer proficient and organized, and the ability to identify, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. The individual needs to have computer skills including working knowledge of Micro-Soft Office products. Training will be provided for specific work-related programs. The employee must be able to work well with others. DUTIES The Certified Arborist Foreman is responsible for leading tree care crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and accepted arboricultural practices. Lead and supervise daily tree care operations, including tree removal, pruning, cabling, rigging, planting, stump grinding, and related services. Review job requirements with crew members and assign responsibilities based on experience, qualifications, and job-site conditions. Conduct job briefings and site hazard assessments before work begins and as conditions change. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, ANSI standards, OSHA requirements, and accepted arboricultural practices. Identify tree defects, structural concerns, site hazards, utility conflicts, and other conditions that may affect safe completion of the work. Determine appropriate climbing, rigging, lowering, cutting, and equipment-use techniques for each job. Perform skilled arboricultural work as needed, including climbing, aerial lift operation, chainsaw operation, rigging, pruning, and tree removal. Ensure pruning work follows proper arboricultural practices and the specifications provided for the job. Direct the safe setup and operation of aerial lifts, chippers, loaders, stump grinders, cranes, grapple saws, trucks, and other equipment. Maintain required clearances from energized conductors and ensure proper procedures are followed when working near utilities. Monitor crew performance, productivity, workmanship, and compliance with company procedures. Train and mentor employees in safe work practices, climbing, rigging, equipment operation, pruning techniques, job-site organization, and proper tool use. Provide direction and corrective coaching when work does not meet company safety or quality expectations. Inspect equipment, climbing gear, rigging equipment, PPE, and tools before use and report damaged or unsafe equipment. Maintain an organized and professional job site, including proper traffic control, debris management, and protection of customer property. Communicate with customers when appropriate regarding the work being performed, job-site conditions, and any concerns requiring additional attention. Document changes in job scope, unexpected site conditions, property damage, incidents, equipment issues, and other relevant job information. Coordinate with management when additional equipment, personnel, time, or changes to the work plan are necessary. Ensure trucks, equipment, and materials are properly secured before traveling between job sites. Complete required job paperwork, inspections, safety documentation, and crew records accurately and promptly. Maintain current arboricultural knowledge and certifications and assist employees working toward additional training or industry credentials. Participate in emergency and storm-response operations when required. Represent Dorshak Tree Specialists professionally when interacting with customers, municipalities, utility representatives, contractors, and the general public. Perform other tree care, leadership, training, and operational duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands The Certified Arborist Foreman position requires the physical ability to safely perform and supervise tree care operations in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

Essential physical demands may include:

Frequently standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. Regularly lifting and carrying tools, equipment, logs, brush, and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently , with heavier items requiring team lifting or mechanical assistance. Climbing trees and/or operating aerial lifts, including working at significant heights while using appropriate fall-protection equipment. Maintaining balance and body control while working on uneven terrain, slopes, around tree debris, and in elevated work positions. Repetitively using the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders when operating chainsaws, pole saws, ropes, rigging equipment, hand tools, and other tree-care equipment. Gripping, pulling, and manipulating ropes and rigging systems for extended periods. Entering and exiting trucks, loaders, chippers, aerial lifts, and other equipment throughout the workday. Working around loud equipment and machinery while wearing required personal protective equipment. Performing physically demanding work for extended periods in heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and other outdoor conditions. Possessing sufficient vision, hearing, depth perception, coordination, and situational awareness to recognize hazards and safely direct employees, equipment, traffic, and tree-care operations. Remaining capable of responding quickly to changing job-site conditions or emergency situations.
