Job Description
Program Support Specialist - Delta Conservation District Job Summary Delta Conservation District (DCD) is seeking a full-time Program Support Specialist (PSS) to help fulfill the mission of the DCD. As a unique unit of local government, the DCD assists non-industrial private landowners with technical services and detailed information for stewardship and maintenance of natural resources. Duties
- Develop and coordinate conservation outreach programs for the public; conduct presentations to local schools, service groups, units of government, and various conservation groups.
- Develop and utilize multimedia to promote the DCD conservation mission, such as brochures, Website administration, invitations, local media interviews, quarterly newsletter.
- Assist the District Manager with the completion of normal operations, including Annual Report, Board of Directors monthly packets, meeting minutes, annual tree sale, native plant sale, QuickBooks and annual District meeting and election when required.
- Research and evaluate potential grant opportunities and assist with grant applications.
- Recruit and maintain volunteers to assist with presentations, events, and stewardship activities.
- Attend appropriate in-house, regional and/or State training programs to enhance a working knowledge on agriculture, forestry, pollinators, regional ecosystems, invasive species, available grants, marketing strategies, etc.
- Maintain accurate records through a well-organized filing system.
- Coordinate collaboration with the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area operation.
- Coordinate fundraising options.
- Ability to work independently, establish work priorities, and manage time effectively. Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental education, or natural resources, and business administration with experience considered in lieu of this qualification.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent writing, presentation, fundraising, and public relations skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Google Suite, MS Word and Excel, and ability to learn new computer applications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
- Must be able to pass a federal background security check. Position Details
- This is a full-time hourly position with an hourly range of $22.00 - $24.00; commensurate upon qualifications.
- The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, though some events require after business hour attendance, or occasional work during evenings or weekends.
