Job Description

Public Involvement Coordinator Code #53462 - Grade 15 Description The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop and implement programs designed to involve and educate the public on the conservation of natural resources and coordinate and lead associated public involvement programs (volunteer ecological restoration events, volunteer installations of stormwater best management practices, public education campaigns, etc.) to meet the needs of the Hamilton County Conservation District. The employee occupying this position is responsible to the Board of Supervisors and shall be subject to the direction of the Board. The Education & Outreach Program Manager will be the direct supervisor.
Responsibilities:
% Time Illustrative duties (% may vary as program develops) 30% Develop conservation and natural resource programs to involve and educate the public.
Major Duties include:
Develop public involvement & public education programs Update and develop outreach materials pertaining to backyard conservation topics Oversee the implementation of MCM 2 requirements of the NPDES Phase II SW permit Evaluate programs and implement updated strategies to encourage conservation practices Build collaborative partnerships with organizations who have shared objectives Manage the District's Native Plant Kit and Seed Sale and assist with other sales as needed Identify funding and grant opportunities, write grants and funding proposals, manage projects, and report results to funders Develop and distribute the Storm Water District newsletter and contribute to the District's newsletters as needed Update websites as needed with current programs/sales, etc. 50% Coordinate and lead public involvement programs (examples include restoration events, volunteer opportunities, public education campaigns, etc).
Major duties include:
Lead and promote backyard conservation programs with a focus on lawn care, native/invasive plants, rain gardens, and other stormwater best management practices Organize quarterly community and volunteer activities/events to implement or maintain backyard conservation and stream protection practices Give technical and general presentations and assistance
