Position Description:

As an AmeriCorps member with Conservation Nebraska, you will build local capacity to manage Nebraska's natural resources by increasing knowledge of and concern for the most important issues facing our state. You will recruit, coach, and support local community volunteers in implementing conservation projects, and build partnerships between conservation professionals, local and state governments, and your fellow community members. Your Responsibilities will

Include:

Planning and implementing educational events on conservation topics and issues facing our state Recruiting and managing community volunteers Helping community volunteers organize educational events and/or community discussions focused on conservation issues Helping community volunteers organize service-learning projects that benefit local partners Assisting in the development and implementation of conservation projects Door-to-door canvassing and/or phone banking Maintaining accurate contact records of people engaged in the program Manage collection and analysis of data Expanding and strengthening partnerships between Conservation Nebraska and local entities already working on conservation issues across the state Reporting progress regularly to Conservation Nebraska staff

Project and AmeriCorps Service Focuses:

Nitrate Awareness and Water Quality, focus on water quality issues facing Nebraska including nitrates, atrazine, lead, and PFAs Volunteerism, focus on volunteer events including community clean ups Home efficiency (including conducting home energy audits) Project Energy Nebraska, focus on helping communities research and develop a greenhouse gas inventory and creating science-based targets to lowering emissions Community Gardens and Wildlife Management, focus on the continuation and expansion of Conservation Nebraska's community gardens and native plant/pollinator projects Waste Management, focus on working with communities on recycling efforts and food waste

Pay:

Up to $11,000.00 per year
