Position Overview The "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society seeks a skilled, creative Content & Media Specialist to support our communications, storytelling, and public engagement efforts. This part-time, remote, project-based role is ideal for a detail-oriented writer with a strong editorial voice and a passion for conservation, community impact, and mission-driven storytelling. The specialist will collaborate with DDWS leadership to produce compelling written content across multiple platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with our organizational mission. Key Responsibilities Copywriting & Editorial Development Write and edit website content that reflects DDWS's mission, programs, and conservation impact. Produce engaging newsletter copy for donor audiences, members, and the general public. Draft press releases, media advisories, and event announcements for local and regional outlets. Craft articles and feature stories highlighting refuge initiatives, community programs, and conservation successes. Brand & Messaging Alignment Maintain DDWS's voice: clear, inspiring, conservation-forward, and community-centered. Ensure all content supports organizational goals, donor engagement, and public outreach. Project‑Based Workflows Manage deadlines and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects. Collaborate remotely with DDWS leadership and staff to gather information, refine messaging, and finalize content. Qualifications Demonstrate experience in copywriting, journalism, communications, or content development. Strong portfolio showcasing writing for websites, newsletters, press releases, or editorial features. Ability to translate complex conservation or programmatic information into accessible, engaging narratives. Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and editorial accuracy. Comfortable working independently, remotely, and on project-based timelines. Familiarity with nonprofit communications or environmental storytelling is a plus. Familiarity with basic design or multimedia tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar) and social media platforms. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and partners to represent the organization in a professional manner remotely and on-site. Experience or strong interest in conservation, environmental education, or wildlife-related organizations is beneficial. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Environmental Studies, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
