Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, CalPERS Retirement. The Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) is seeking a dedicated, hardworking Farming Assistant to join the team at the EUSD Farm Lab. This unique position offers the opportunity to support a working organic farm that plays an important role in EUSD's commitment to student health, wellness, sustainability, and environmental literacy. Under the direction of the Administrator of Farm Lab and the Lead Farmer, the Farming Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Farm Lab's certified organic farm. This is a hands-on, outdoor position with responsibilities that include seeding, transplanting, harvesting, composting, preparing planting beds, installing and repairing irrigation, weeding, pest management, and other seasonal farming activities. The Farming Assistant also supports general farm maintenance, grounds work, and other site-related activities necessary to maintain a safe, productive, and well-functioning farm. The EUSD Farm Lab is a unique 10-acre property dedicated to supporting health, wellness, sustainability, and environmental literacy. Its certified organic farm supplies fresh produce to EUSD's nationally recognized Farm to School program, helping connect locally grown food directly to students throughout the District. Farm Lab utilizes regenerative agriculture practices and has earned Real Organic Project Certification. Farm Lab is also home to EUSD's DREAMS Campus—Design, Research, Engineering, Art, Math, and Science—which provides sustainability-focused educational experiences for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Students engage in integrated indoor and outdoor learning through 4PBL—Project, Place, Problem, and Phenomena-Based Learning—with instruction rooted in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
