Hertaberkshwein farms is looking for farm hands to cares for antibiotic-free hogs, maintains boar rotational and outdoor shelters, manages natural feeding and watering systems, and monitors herd health daily. This physically demanding role emphasizes high animal welfare standards, sustainable land management, and low-stress livestock handling without routine drugs.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities Animal Care:

Feed and check water lines for pigs,Horses,Cows and Chickens of all stages. Monitor behavior to spot signs of illness early.

Pasture & Facility Maintenance:

Move and repair electric fencing insulators, clear lines free of dirt and fix outdoor shelters or gates as needed.

Feeding & Nutrition:

Distribute feed rations daily. Check feeder to insure no feed blockage or dirt build ups.

Health & Welfare:

Assist with natural farrowing (births), tag piglets, and record vital herd data. Follow strict natural treatment protocols for sick animals. Assist with castrations.

General Labor:

Operate small tractors, utility vehicles (UTVs), and golf carts. Clean water troughs and keep equipment areas tidy.

Job Requirements and Skills Physical Stamina:

Lift 50 pounds repeatedly. Work outdoors in all weather types (heat, cold, rain, mud).

Animal Empathy:

Patience and calm body language for low-stress, humane livestock handling.

Mechanical Know-how:

Basic skills to fix fences, waterers, tractors, and small tools.

Work Ethic:

Reliable, independent, and ready for early morning hours. No formal degree is required. Extreme Heat.

Pay:

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
