Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Irrigation Installation Technician to join our landscaping team. This role is responsible for installing, laying out, and setting up irrigation systems on commercial properties, including HOAs, municipal sites, and other large-scale landscapes. The ideal candidate has hands-on field experience, strong technical knowledge of irrigation components, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a crew. Responsibilities Install commercial irrigation systems, including mainlines, lateral lines, valves, controllers, sensors, and sprinkler/drip components, according to approved design plans Read and interpret irrigation blueprints, site plans, and design specifications Trench, bore, and lay pipe (PVC and poly) using hand tools and power equipment (trenchers, pipe pullers, etc.) Install and wire irrigation controllers, valve boxes, backflow preventers, and rain/moisture sensors Perform pressure testing, flush lines, and adjust systems for proper coverage and water efficiency Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades (electrical, hardscape, planting crews) to keep installations on schedule Identify and troubleshoot layout or design issues in the field, communicating solutions to supervisors Operate and maintain equipment such as trenchers, skid steers, vibratory plows, and pipe pullers safely Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, utility locating (calling 811), and job site hazard awareness Maintain accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and installation progress Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and restored (backfilled, compacted, sod/mulch replaced) upon completion Provide basic training or guidance to laborers/apprentices on-site as needed Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in irrigation installation, preferably on commercial or large-scale projects Working knowledge of irrigation system components (valves, controllers, sensors, backflow devices, pipe fittings) Ability to read irrigation plans, blueprints, and as-built drawings Experience operating trenching and pipe-pulling equipment Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring for controllers and valves Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to lift 50+ lbs, dig, kneel, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Irrigation certification (e.g., Irrigation Association Certified Irrigation Technician, or state-specific licensure) Backflow prevention certification Experience with smart controllers and centralized irrigation management systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
