Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Nursery Irrigation Technician to manage, maintain, and repair the watering and irrigation systems in our nursery and in our club gardens. In this role, you will ensure our trees, shrubs and potted plants receive optimal water distribution while preventing water waste and system failures.

Key Responsibilities System Maintenance:

Inspect, test, and maintain nursery irrigation systems, including drip lines, overhead sprays, valves, pumps, and mainline pipes.

Troubleshooting & Repairs:

Quickly diagnose and repair leaks, broken pipes, faulty wiring, broken sprinkler heads, and malfunctioning controllers or solenoids.

Scheduling & Adjustment:

Program and adjust irrigation controllers based on weather conditions, seasonal requirements, and specific crop/plant needs.

Monitoring:

Regularly check soil moisture levels and system coverage to prevent dry spots or over-watering.

General Nursery Support:

Assist with general plant care, moving stock, or maintaining clean and safe work areas around the nursery grounds when irrigation tasks are complete.

Qualifications Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial or agricultural irrigation systems.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of PVC piping, valves, pumps, timers, and drip irrigation networks.

Horticulture Knowledge:

A basic understanding of plant water requirements is a strong plus. Requirements Completion of High School education or equivalent required Possession of a valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire. Please note, a driver's permit is not acceptable Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position to include but not limited to ability to lift 50 pounds, walk long distances, and work outdoors in various weather conditions, kneel, bend, and dig throughout the shift. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English and be able to communicate in English Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision Ability to perform groundskeeping work including but not limited to transplanting, cultivation, pruning, and trimming of plants, shrubs, and trees Please note that due to the working hours and the need to drive a golf cart, applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Pay:

From $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
