A Farm, Nursery, or Greenhouse Worker propagates, cultivates and harvests plants, primarily flowers, trees, shrubs and sod, and other crops such as mushrooms that are grown in greenhouses, or grows and harvests farm crops such as grain, fruit or vegetables. Operates and maintains equipment used to grow and harvest plants and crops. Cares for animals including dairy cows or chickens, pigs or other animals raised for meat.
Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Irrigation Technician to maintain, repair, and optimize irrigation systems across our properties and parks. The primary focus is on diagnosing and fixing irrigation infrastructure to ensure efficient water delivery and healthy landscapes. Secondary duties include general grounds maintenance and park upkeep. This is a hands-on outdoor role that requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions. Primary Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair irrigation pipes, fittings, and related components, including locating and fixing leaks, breaks, and clogs. Periodically replace irrigation valves, solenoids, and associated hardware as needed to maintain system performance. Troubleshoot, program, and maintain irrigation controllers, with strong preference for experience with Toro Irrigation Controllers (or similar commercial systems). Perform routine system checks, and adjustments for seasonal or weather-related needs. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and system performance. Coordinate with supervisor on larger system upgrades or replacements.
Secondary / Supporting
Responsibilities Assist with general park and grounds maintenance, including cleaning up parks, removing debris, and keeping common areas neat. Mow Bermuda grass using a reel mower (and other turf equipment as needed). Perform related landscape and facility tasks to support the overall property maintenance team. Help with other outdoor duties as assigned to ensure properties remain well-maintained and presentable. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This position involves strenuous outdoor physical activity on a regular basis.
Duties include:
Digging holes and trenches (often by hand or with manual tools). Lifting, carrying, and moving heavy materials, equipment, valves, pipe sections, and tools (frequently 50+ lbs). Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and working in awkward positions for extended periods. Working outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, rain, and other weather conditions for the majority of the shift. Standing and walking for long periods on uneven terrain. Candidates must be able to safely perform these physical demands and work independently or as part of a small crew in outdoor environments. Preferred Qualifications & Skills Hands-on experience repairing irrigation pipes and systems. Experience replacing irrigation valves and related components. Familiarity with Toro Irrigation Controllers (or comparable commercial controllers) strongly preferred; willingness to learn required. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely. Knowledge of proper irrigation practices, water conservation principles, and basic landscape maintenance. Ability to read basic irrigation plans or diagrams is a plus. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
