Job Description

Grand Park Sports Campus Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana, is a planned youth and adult recreational sports Campus designed to become a family sports destination like no other. This thoughtfully-designed 400-acre sports campus features a full-range of championship-level outdoor facilities for baseball, softball and field sports including soccer, football, field hockey, lacrosse and two indoor sports facilities designed for year-round play. The entire Sports Campus is surrounded by dining, retail and entertainment venues, all geared toward supporting and enhancing the family sports atmosphere and experience. General Definition of Work This position works under the direction of the Grounds Manager to maintain all grounds facilities related to the Field Sports side of the campus. Full-time (40 hours per week) with potential for overtime Primary schedule: Monday - Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as needed Typical hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break (schedule flexibility required) Position Overview The Grounds Assistant (Field Sports) works under the direction of the Grounds Manager to maintain all field sports facilities and surrounding areas. This position requires attention to detail, adaptability, and a strong work ethic to ensure top-quality sports surfaces and grounds. Schedule & Work Hours Full-time (40 hours per week) with potential for overtime.
Primary schedule:
Monday - Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as needed.
Typical hours:
7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, including a one-hour lunch break (schedule flexibility required). Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain all field sports surfaces and common areas to the highest quality standards Work in various weather conditions to ensure field safety and usability Follow environmentally responsible and sustainable turf management practices Assist with equipment upkeep, maintenance, and repairs Support inclement weather response efforts as directed by the Grounds Manager Adapt to schedule changes and assist with special projects as needed Perform additional duties as assigned by the
Grounds Manager Qualifications & Skills Required:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality maintenance Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility to accommodate schedule adjustments and overtime as needed Valid driver's license in the State of Indiana Preferred (but not required): Basic knowledge of sports field maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping Familiarity with fertilization procedures, irrigation system maintenance, and foliar applications Understanding of turf cultural practices, natural grass mowing techniques, and artificial turf maintenance Experience using tools, materials, and equipment for grounds maintenance Knowledge of environmental best practices in facility maintenance Ability to recognize and diagnose problems related to groundskeeping Experience operating motorized vehicles, including towing Education & Experience Prior work experience in landscape and turf maintenance is appreciated but not required Physical Requirements Frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force ; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds Regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, and using hands for handling materials Occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling Visual acuity required for close work, depth perception, and color differentiation Ability to operate machinery and observe surroundings in a noisy environment Must be able to work in all weather conditions and environmental elements
