Job Overview:

The Cultivation Technician assists in all aspects of cultivation operations including cloning, vegetative growth, flowering, transplanting, trellising, pruning, bottoming, toping, shaping, spacing and overall canopy management/ maintenance. The Cultivation Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently growing and monitoring cannabis plants while maintaining safety, compliance, and quality standards. Under the direction of the Cultivation leadership team, the technician will operate equipment, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintain cleanliness and compliance within the cultivation environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide daily hands-on care, inspection, organization, and maintenance of cannabis plants throughout the entire cultivation process, from clone through flower.
• Perform plant work including but not limited to cloning, transplanting, plant tagging, defoliation, pruning, canopy management, spot watering, trellising, plant spacing, plant waste handling and other cultivation tasks as directed by cultivation leadership in all flower, vegetative and cloning plant storage areas.
• Maintain organized and consistent plant canopies to promote plant health, airflow, light penetration, and quality flower development in all flower, vegetative and cloning plant storage areas.
• Assist with installing, adjusting, and maintaining trellis systems in addition to setting up and maintaining irrigation systems, including saturating and breaking up pots, and environmental control in all flower, vegetative and cloning plant storage areas.
• Observe plants daily for changes in color, vigor, structure, moisture, nutrient response, pest activity, disease symptoms, or other abnormalities, report on any observations on plant health, watering needs, nutrient levels, and environmental conditions to Cultivation leadership.
• Immediately communicate unusual plant symptoms or developing problems to cultivation leadership.
• Loading or transferring plants between rooms while maintaining accurate plant placement, strain organization, and room layout in all flower, vegetative and cloning plant storage areas.
• Responsible for clone and plant destruction practices that align with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and legal requirements while maintaining accurate logs and tracks all plants using the METRC system.
• Ensure compliance with all sanitation regulations and safety standards throughout cultivation as set by the company standard operating procedures and the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, including the use of PPE.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment, performing routine cleaning tasks including general plant growing room cleanliness and participate in daily and weekly cleanup tasks as assigned by cultivation department leadership.
• Monitor and report any issues with equipment, material inconsistencies, plant health, unsafe practices or potential contamination to the Cultivation department leadership immediately.
• Practice safe ergonomics, best manufacturing practices, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and adherence to company safety protocols always.
• Collaborate with team members and receive instruction from the Cultivation Leads and Cultivation Manager to meet daily and weekly workload and cultivation goals.
• Restock workstation with inventory of materials as needed to prevent workflow disruptions, including but not limited to supplies, consumables, spare parts for equipment etc. and communicate with cultivation department leadership if materials are not available.
• Uphold state compliance and company regulations during all stages of clone, plant care and cultivation processes.
• Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude while contributing to a clean, efficient, and respectful work environment.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing, food production, or cannabis facility is preferred.
• Prior experience with cultivation/agricultural equipment, such as nutrient irrigation systems, is preferred.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge and understanding of the cannabis plant lifecycle, including propagation, vegetative growth, flowering, harvest, drying, and curing.
• Understanding of plant health indicators, including nutrient deficiencies, environmental stressors, pests, pathogens, mold, and disease symptoms.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, environmental controls, and cultivation equipment.
• Basic Good Manufacturing Practices
• Understanding of basic manufacturing safety practices, cleanliness standards and handwashing.
• Computer Software — Basic knowledge of basic computer navigation, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Workplace Environmental Conditions:

• The person in this position will consistently work in an environment with possible exposure to dust (kief), strong cannabis odors (terpenes), and some degree of cleaning product odors. Although systems are in place to mitigate these factors, there is still exposure to some degree.
• This position may need to seldomly work in an environment with a laboratory setting which includes use of compressed gas, solvent chemicals, cleaning chemicals, mechanical equipment noise and hazardous waste. Although systems are in place to mitigate these factors, there is still exposure to some degree.
• Fast-paced, highly regulated production environment requires attention to detail and adherence to strict compliance policies.

Schedule Requirements:

• Regularly scheduled to work 40 hours per week, hourly position.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as required as Cultivation is open 7 days per week.
