Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Hog Barn Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic agricultural team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and cleanliness of hog barn facilities. Your expertise in equipment repair, animal husbandry, and farm maintenance will directly contribute to the health and productivity of our livestock. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment, applying your mechanical skills and farming experience to support sustainable livestock management. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on farm machinery, livestock equipment, and barn systems to ensure smooth operation. Conduct repairs using hand tools, welding techniques, and equipment repair knowledge to address mechanical issues promptly. Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, agricultural tractors, and other machinery safely and efficiently for daily farm tasks. Assist with animal husbandry duties including livestock handling, feeding, cleaning, and ensuring animal welfare standards are maintained. Manage manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and moving supplies or equipment around the barn area. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and safety checks in compliance with safety standards in production. Support irrigation systems, greenhouse operations, or horticultural activities as needed to optimize farm productivity. Requirements Proven experience supervising or leading teams in a farm or agricultural setting is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to operate agricultural tractors, heavy equipment, and hand tools safely. Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair, welding, and maintenance of farm machinery. Knowledge of animal care practices including livestock handling and animal husbandry techniques. Familiarity with safety standards in agricultural production environments and adherence to best practices for worker safety. Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Basic math skills for measuring, inventory management, and record keeping related to maintenance activities.
