Part Time Animal Educator Position Type:

On-site at Fox Chase Farm / Philadelphia School District school locations Position Overview Fox Chase Farm is seeking a Per Diem Animal Educator with large animal experience to support hands-on agricultural education programming. This role is fully on-site and centers on delivering structured, engaging, and safe animal-based learning experiences for K-12 students. The Animal Educator will be responsible for preparing and delivering lessons that integrate animal care, agricultural practices, and environmental education. This position plays a critical role in connecting students to agriculture through direct interaction with farm animals while maintaining a safe and well-managed learning environment. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering structured, hands-on lessons to student groups, totaling approximately 6 hours of instruction per instructional day
• Preparing lesson materials, coordinating animal use, and planning instructional activities during designated prep days
• Facilitating safe and engaging student interactions with large animals, ensuring proper handling and supervision at all times
• Supporting daily care and observation of farm animals as it relates to educational programming
• Maintaining clean, organized, and safe animal and learning environments
• Collaborating with farm staff and educators to align lessons with program goals
• Communicating any animal health, safety, or operational concerns to Fox Chase Farm staff Schedule & Work Environment Per diem role structured as 3 days per week: 1 day dedicated to lesson preparation 2 days dedicated to instruction (each consisting of approximately 6 hours of student-facing teaching) Position begins in August, with student programming starting in September.

This is an on-site position. Remote work is not available. Work is conducted in an active farm environment and includes outdoor conditions in varying weather. Qualifications

• Experience working with large animals is required
• Experience in education, youth programming, or informal teaching environments is strongly preferred
• Comfort working in physically active, outdoor environments
• Ability to manage groups of students in a structured and engaging way
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation is required

Pay:
