Job Overview Green Thumb Commodities is seeking a reliable, hard-working Plant Operator to join our team at our Jefferson, SD grain elevator location. This hands-on role supports the day-to-day operation of the grain elevator, including receiving, storing, and shipping grain, as well as general facility maintenance. Duties Receive, weigh, grade, and unload incoming grain from producers and trucks Operate grain elevator equipment, including legs, conveyors, dryers, and scales Load outbound grain for shipment via truck or rail Perform routine facility and equipment maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs Monitor grain quality and storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination Operate skid steers, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as needed Maintain accurate records of grain weights, grades, and inventory Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment Assist with seed cleaning, cover crop, and bird food operations during off-peak elevator times as needed Provide friendly, professional customer service to farmers and haulers Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in grain handling, agriculture, or a related industrial setting is a plus, but not required — we're willing to train the right person Comfortable operating machinery and learning new equipment Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Willingness to work extended and flexible hours during harvest season Valid driver's license; CDL a plus but not required Team player with a positive attitude Work Schedule Full-time position. Hours may vary seasonally, with extended hours expected during spring planting and fall harvest.
Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
