Position Summary The Kupu Place Assistant Farm Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily food production activities across a variety of growing systems, including aquaponics/hydroponics, microgreens, and edible flower nursery production. The Assistant Farm Manager is responsible for implementing production plans, assisting with staff supervision, maintaining farm infrastructure, and ensuring crops are produced according to quality and food safety standards. This position serves as a working leader who actively participates in production activities while helping coordinate daily operations. The Assistant Farm Manager communicates regularly with the Farm Manager regarding crop performance, labor needs, maintenance issues, and production goals. Responsibilities include daily crew leadership, system maintenance, record keeping, inventory management, site stewardship, and support of educational and community outreach activities. The Assistant Farm Manager helps ensure compliance with food safety, worker safety, and operational standard operating procedures. This position is central to the operation and will be supported with professional development opportunities and room to grow with the company. Major Responsibilities Assist with crop production, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and crop scheduling

• 25% Maintain facilities, shade house and equipment
• 25% Lead and train daily work crews, interns, and volunteers
• 25% Support project implementation, installations, and farm improvements
• 10% Complete production records, food safety logs, and inventory tracking
• 5% Maintain supply inventories and assist with purchasing requests
• 5% Supervisory Responsibilities Provides daily guidance and task delegation to farm staff, interns, and volunteers.

Assists with employee training and performance feedback. Does not have independent authority for hiring, termination, or disciplinary actions. Reports personnel concerns and progress to the General Manager. May handle currency for company. Required Qualifications 2-5 years of agriculture or farm production experience. Demonstrated experience in pest management, crop cycles, food safety Understands order fulfillment and providing great customer service Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding farm work. Valid Hawaiʻi driver's license and reliable transportation. Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheets, and digital record keeping. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Aquaculture, or related field. Experience with aquaponics, greenhouse production, microgreens, or nursery. Experience supervising crews, interns, or volunteers. Basic carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, and equipment maintenance skills. Active in the community. Working Conditions Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Frequent lifting, bending, walking, and repetitive physical tasks. Occasional weekend and holiday work during peak production periods. Both a fast-paced and relaxed work environment, depending on the day.

Pay:

$60,000.00
