Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a progressive dairy operation who is searching for an Assistant Manager to work closely with ownership and the Dairy Manager in overseeing the daily operation. This position is designed for an individual who wants to grow into more responsibilities while gaining experience in all aspects of dairy management. Responsibilities include supervising employees, ensuring protocols are followed, assisting with herd health, reproduction, calf and heifer management, fresh and hospital cows, parlor operations, and overall daily dairy activities. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate records, assist with inventory and purchasing, and work closely with management to ensure the operation runs efficiently. This is a hands on leadership position where the Assistant Manager will regularly work alongside employees while learning all aspects of the business. Responsibilities will vary based on the individual's strengths and interests, with opportunities to gain experience in employee management, problem solving, equipment troubleshooting, and operational decision making. The employer is looking for an energetic, team-oriented individual who enjoys working with both people and cattle and is interested in building a long-term career in dairy management.

  • Previous dairy experience preferred, with an interest in advancing in responsibilities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to supervise and develop employees
  • Hands on approach with a willingness to work alongside employees as needed
  • Experience with or willingness to learn herd health, reproduction, calf care, parlor operations, and youngstock management
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain records using dairy management software
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate repairs when needed
  • Spanish-speaking ability or a willingness to learn preferred
