Today, Marin Water provides local water service to more than 191,000 people in central and southern Marin. The District operates a complex and highly reliable water system that includes three treatment plants, a finishing facility, more than 900 miles of pipeline, 130 water storage tanks and nearly 100 pumping stations. About 75% of MMWD's water comes from more than 21,000 acres of protected watershed on Mt. Tamalpais. Make a difference where it matters most—protecting Marin County's watersheds and native fisheries. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are passionate about environmental stewardship, and are eager to develop practical skills in fisheries biology, watershed management, and habitat restoration. This assignment is for an Eight (8) Week Duration, 40 hours per week. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

When assigned to Fisheries Management , typical duties may include but are not limited to the following: assists regular staff with monitoring and conservation activities aimed at endangered coho salmon, threatened steelhead trout, and other sensitive aquatic species; performs snorkeling, electrofishing, and other field surveys for juvenile salmonids; performs spawner surveys for adult salmonids; enters and analyzes monitoring and survey data; assists with preparation of technical reports; assists regular staff with erosion control, riparian vegetation management, and stream habitat enhancement; performs survey work on both public and private lands in Marin County; assists with maintenance of watershed lands and facilities; and conducts miscellaneous tasks and other duties as assigned.
