Posting Details Our mission is to protect the integrity of New Mexico's livestock industry. Our team of about sixty full time inspectors and another sixty full and part time deputies continuously patrol and perform inspections around our state to help keep our livestock free from disease and safe from theft. We are also the office of the State Veterinarian, whose team collaborates with various government and private sector partners to ensure that our state remains free of diseases. This position exists to ensure the NM Livestock Board is compliant with the Inspection of Public Records Act, Chapter 14, Article 2, and to create a positive image of the agency in the livestock industry and throughout the State of New Mexico. This position will work to ensure a consistent message and vision is sent to constituents, stakeholders and interested parties. This position acts as the Inspection of Public Records Act and Outreach Coordinator for the NM Livestock Board. How does it get done? Receiving and responding to requests to inspect public records in adherence to IPRA guidelines, Chapter 14, Article 2 NMSA 1978, federal and state laws and agency policies. Drafting news releases for radio, newspaper, television use and social media. Developing annual reports and assisting in the development of responses to sensitive communication. Developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to IPRA and media representation. Maintaining cooperative relationships with community and industry representatives. Developing methods to keep the public informed of agency activities. Working closely with agency leadership to develop priorities, promotional plans and branding efforts that result in the public's clearer understanding and recognition of the agency. Analyze existing and prepared legislation to determine impact on the agency and the industry. Who are the customers? Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree and three (3) years of experience in program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
