Job Description

Position Overview The Forest Technician is responsible for gathering an accurate forest inventory using the latest in forest mensuration technology on our seasonal forest inventory team. We employ both fixed radius and variable radius sampling methodologies. These are carried out over a vast industrial forest landscape throughout Northern California. We are currently expanding our inventory team and are looking for the right people to advance at Alpine. Forest Technicians have consistent overtime hours each week, typically 1-2 hours per day. Meals, lodging (camp trailer), and drive time are paid through the week. Forest Technician Responsibilities and Duties
  • Report to the crew supervisor
  • Gather forest inventory data with a high level of accuracy
  • Safely operate company vehicles (Truck or Quad)
  • Maintain issued equipment
  • Maintain a safe and clean camp throughout the field season
  • Follow company safety standards Qualifications and Skills
  • Preferred but not required, completed or actively pursuing a 2 or 4-year forestry-related degree
  • Good physical condition and the ability to work safely and effectively in steep/rugged terrain
  • Ability to operate and communicate as part of a team
  • Willingness to be away from home for 5 days at a time (Leave Monday morning, Back to Redding office late Friday afternoon)
  • Willingness to overcome adverse outdoor conditions

You will be in the woods for the entire week in camp-based living conditions. Are you able to commit to being away from home all week? Is your driving record insurable?
