You will be responsible for executing efficient and environmentally responsible logging activities while maintaining high safety standards. Duties Operate heavy logging equipment such as excavators, loaders, and Caterpillar machinery to harvest timber efficiently and safely. Perform tree felling, trimming, and ground-based logging activities following forestry safety procedures and industry best practices. Use rigging techniques to plan and execute precise logging operations. Conduct equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure machinery remains in optimal working condition. Follow strict safety protocols related to forestry, logging industry standards, and equipment operation to prevent accidents. Manage timber extraction processes, including loading logs onto trucks with bucket operation and heavy equipment handling. Maintain detailed records of logging activities, equipment usage, and safety inspections for compliance purposes. Pant, transplant, and care for cypress tree seedlings and saplings, Water, fertilize, weed, and mulch trees to promote healthy growth, Prune, trim, and remove damaged or diseased trees as directed. Assist with harvesting, loading, and transporting trees and related materials. Operate and maintain farm equipment, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, and other hand and power tools (training provided as needed). Operate the farm sawmill to process harvested cypress logs into lumber and other wood products while following all safety procedures. Skills Extensive knowledge of forestry and logging safety procedures to ensure safe work environments. Proven experience in timber harvesting, tree felling, and tree care techniques. Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and chainsaws. Skilled in ground-based logging methods with proficiency in equipment like bucket loaders and heavy machinery operation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely during log handling and transportation tasks. Strong outdoor work experience with a focus on environmental stewardship and land management.
