A Forest or Conservation Technician works with foresters and conservation scientists to help maintain forests and natural areas. Tracks data on water, soil, disease and insect damage in forest areas; tracks wildlife and maintain trails or campsites; monitors timber and logging activity; patrols and assists with forest fire prevention measures; provides information to the public on forest or natural areas conservation .

Job Description
- Must be able to accurately identify eastern U.S. tree species.
- Must be able to identify common native and invasive herbaceous and woody species.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Minimum of an Associates Degree in Forest Technology or similar.
- Previous work experience in Forestry or related field preferred but not required.
- Must be comfortable applying herbicides/fungicides/pesticides, pesticide applicator license preferred but not required. Applicant should obtain license within 1 year of employment.
- Other preferred experience includes: tree planting, tree felling, operating small equipment such as chainsaws, brush saws, weed eaters, augers and hand tools, operating 4x4 tractors, skid steers, industrial forestry mulcher, and trailer towing. Job Description
- Primary focus of position is to aid the head forester in forest management practices on company owned property as well as parcels owned by private landowners.
These practices include:
timber harvest preparation, timber marking, herbicide application, timber cruising, timber value estimation, property boundary marking, tree planting, forestry mulching, tree felling, equipment operating, soil sampling.- Heavy focus on herbicide application in the summer months
