Full Job Description Project Superintendent Location:
Tucson, AZ Position Summary A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. This individual will be responsible for managing all field operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract specifications. The ideal candidate has experience leading crews on roadway, highway, utility, paving, or site development projects and excels at coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities Oversee all daily field operations from project startup through closeout. Review project plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents prior to construction. Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain project schedules. Partner with the Project Manager to forecast manpower, equipment, and production needs. Identify and resolve field issues, utility conflicts, and unforeseen site conditions. Assist with change orders by documenting project impacts, quantities, drawings, and field conditions. Coordinate surveying, testing, inspections, and agency requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain accurate daily reports, production quantities, as-built drawings, and project documentation. Monitor project costs and productivity while helping maintain budget objectives. Ensure proper traffic control and maintain a safe work environment for employees, subcontractors, and the public. Lead weekly safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards. Supervise Foremen, field personnel, and subcontractors while maintaining quality standards. Assist with workforce planning, hiring, and project closeout activities. Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Foreman on heavy civil construction projects. Experience managing transportation, highway, roadway, utility, grading, paving, or site development projects valued at $10 million or more . Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, safety, and quality management. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Experience coordinating subcontractors, inspections, testing, and material deliveries. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Preferred Experience DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects. Heavy civil construction including highways, roads, utilities, grading, earthwork, paving, and site development. Experience delivering complex transportation or infrastructure projects from start to finish.
