Summary Profarm is seeking a Fermentation Intern to join our Fermentation team. This internship offers the opportunity to get hands-on experience in fermentation, aseptic techniques, instrumentation, analyses and data processing. This individual will be responsible for performing general housekeeping and maintenance operations in the fermentation lab, and he/she may perform research experiments depending on ability and availability. A successful candidate will possess the ability to work well independently and perform routine tasks. This position provides support to the scientists working on fermentation process development from bench to pilot scale, as well as the opportunity to participate in the experimental process.
Responsibilities And Duties Responsibilities include:
Clean and organize work areas and equipment Store supplies and distribute a variety of items throughout the lab Maintain inventory of raw materials and supplies Prepare media and other solutions Prepare equipment for upcoming experiments. Maintain written batch records Other duties as assigned Perform measurements on fermentation samples Qualifications College student, preferably enrolled in biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering or related fields. Ability to work flexible hours Essential Mental And Physical Abilities Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others Able to sit and/or stand for up to 2-4 hours at a time Ability to lift 50 lbs.
