GED Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Surface Treatments Prep Technician I is responsible for preparing aerospace parts and components for surface treatment processes. This entry-level role performs basic cleaning, etching, masking, and other preparation activities while learning company procedures, equipment, and surface treatment requirements. The Technician I works under established instructions and guidance to develop the skills necessary to perform surface preparation safely, accurately, and in accordance with quality standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform basic preparation of aerospace parts and components, including cleaning, etching, masking, and other pre-treatment activities. Follow work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation to complete assigned tasks accurately. Learn and apply proper methods for preparing parts for various surface treatment processes. Perform basic etching and masking activities as instructed to prepare parts for processing. Apply masking and other protective materials as required to protect designated surfaces during treatment processes. Perform basic visual inspections to identify damage, defects, or preparation issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate team member. Learn to safely operate and care for tools, equipment, and machinery used in surface preparation. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety and quality standards. Accurately record and document work completed as required. Work with experienced technicians and surface treatment team members to develop technical skills and knowledge. Ask questions and seek guidance when needed to ensure work is completed correctly and safely. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year of relevant or technical work experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic ability to read and understand technical documents and work instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately. Ability and willingness to learn new processes, tools, and equipment. Ability to work independently with appropriate guidance and as part of a team.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
3+ years previous relevant experience. Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, mechanical, production, or a related technical environment. Experience working with hand tools or manufacturing equipment. Previous experience with cleaning, etching, masking, or other part preparation activities.
