Hidden Gem Gardening is a small, woman-owned Berkeley-based, design-build landscaping company in its third year of full time operation. It is a one-stop-shop for residential garden needs, covering design, installations of designs, and ongoing maintenance. As each portion of the business grows rapidly, we are in need of a skilled Landscape Installation Foreman to join our small, but mighty team to lead the installations of a variety of projects from small 3 day jobs to large 3 month long projects. This is a supervisory role, so a high level of independence and leadership is expected! This is a full time position.

Job Requirements:

Minimum 4 years professional experience in landscaping with at least 1 year of experience as a foreman/manager/supervisor. Deep understanding of common landscaping installation skills including demolition and grading; building a fence to design specifications; setting stones/brick/pavers in gravel, soil, and/or mortared onto concrete; planting and irrigating correctly to set plants up for success; installing irrigation and landscape lighting systems; patio and deck building. Ability to read a landscape design plan and translate that plan into the real-world build. Having the creativity and spacial awareness to use the designs as a guide, while making practical on-site decisions for the quality and functionality of the built product. Be able to make material orders with vendors given what the installation needs at any given phase AND coordinate the deliveries. Be able to troubleshoot problems on an installation site and come up with viable solutions that are structurally and aesthetically acceptable. Meet the physical demands of the job: lifting up to 150 lbs, spending long periods of time moving material and on your feet outdoors. Personable and service oriented. As an installation foreman/supervisor, you will become the point of contact for the designer, project manager, and often the client on a given project. Communicate professionally and efficiently with clients to address their needs.

MUST HAVE

personal vehicle that you can drive to and from work. You will often have to pick up tools/parts needed for the install. Having a truck is a plus. You will receive mileage and use reimbursements.

Preferred :

Spanish Fluency. We work with a lot of people who speak primarily Spanish. Being able to communicate basic job related instructions and field questions in Spanish would be very valued. Experience building more complicated structures like pergolas, poured in place concrete pavers/benches/retaining walls, dry-stack stone walls/benches, storage sheds, outdoor kitchens, etc. We are also open to somewhat less experienced individuals who are passionate about this industry and are willing to grow with our company. But most importantly we are looking for a good person looking to work with other good people in a field that allows for independence, outdoor time, and garden stewardship.

Pay:

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
