Full-Time Position Overview R-Ranch Siskiyou is seeking a dedicated Head Wrangler to lead our equestrian operations and provide a premier "dude-ranch" experience for our owners. This role requires a unique combination of elite horsemanship, rugged property maintenance skills, safety and a welcoming, hospitable personality. You will be responsible for the health and training of 30+ horses , ensuring they are safe and rideable for guests of all ages and skill levels—from young children to seniors.

Key Responsibilities Equine Health & Daily Care:

Manage the daily feeding and care for a herd of 30+ horses. You must possess extensive knowledge to identify health issues (colic, lameness, etc.) and administer immediate care or coordinate with a vet.

Training & Temperament:

Execute ongoing training to ensure the string remains "bomb-proof" and rideable for guests with zero experience. You are responsible for the safety of the rider through the training of the horse.

Instruction & Hospitality:

Provide a high-touch vacation experience by teaching private and group lessons, leading trail rides through rough terrain, and instructing young enthusiasts in foundational horsemanship.

Leadership:

Supervise and mentor a team of seasonal wranglers, fostering a culture of safety, hard work, and "Five-Star" owner service.

Ranch Maintenance:

Perform essential "handyman" duties, including repairing barn stalls, fixing fences, and maintaining the stables to ensure a safe, clean and professional environment.

Physical Operations:

Manage the daily distribution of hay across pastures. This is a physically demanding role requiring the ability to lift and move heavy bales of hay daily.

Required Qualifications & Skills Extensive Equine Expertise:

Proven track record in equine health management and professional horse training. "People First"

Attitude:

Exceptional interpersonal skills. You must be welcoming, patient, and respectful to all owners, ensuring every guest feels at home at the ranch.

Leadership Experience:

Ability to manage a crew, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain morale during a busy season.

Physical Stamina:

Must be able to lift heavy hay bales, work long hours outdoors in varying weather, and perform manual labor (fencing/stalls).

Safety Mindset:

Deep understanding of trail safety in rugged terrain and a commitment to maintaining CPR/First Aid certification.

Communication:

Strong ability to communicate clearly with the General Manager and provide a professional face for the stables department.
