Grateful Tree Service - Landscaping Foreman Requirements Position Overview The Landscaping Foreman is responsible for leading a landscaping crew in delivering high-quality maintenance and enhancement services across residential and commercial properties. This role requires leadership, strong communication, technical skill, and the ability to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and to Grateful Tree Service standards. Core Responsibilities 1. Crew Leadership & Management Lead and supervise a crew of ground workers and laborers. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure efficiency on every job. Hold crew accountable to safety procedures, quality standards, and professionalism. Train new crew members on equipment, processes, and GTS expectations. Maintain a positive, motivated team culture on-site. 2. Job Execution & Quality Control Ensure all landscaping tasks (mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, pruning, mulching, bed maintenance, etc.) are performed to GTS standards. Evaluate the property before departure to guarantee a clean, polished final product. Ensure all debris is removed, gates are closed, and the property is left better than it was found. Handle client concerns on-site quickly and professionally. 3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate all landscaping equipment including mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and tractors. Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance (fueling, blade checks, grease points). Report equipment problems immediately and prevent downtime. Ensure all gear is loaded securely and returned to shop in proper condition. 4. Scheduling & Time Management Complete assigned routes efficiently within expected time frames. Communicate with office/secretary if running behind or ahead of schedule. Prioritize tasks based on weather, property needs, and seasonal requirements. Maintain accurate daily logs for time, equipment usage, and job notes. 5. Safety Compliance Enforce safety protocols at all times. Ensure PPE is worn by all employees. Conduct on-site safety briefings with crew. Identify hazards and prevent accidents (traffic, clients, property damage, etc.). Ensure safe operation of trailers, loading ramps, and securing equipment. 6. Client Interaction Represent Grateful Tree Service in a respectful, professional manner. Be the point of contact for clients during services. Address concerns, answer basic questions, and convey client feedback to management. Maintain strong customer satisfaction and reinforce GTS reputation. Required Skills & Qualifications Herbicide and fertilizer licensing preferred. 2+ years landscaping or groundskeeping experience (foreman or crew lead preferred). Strong understanding of landscaping equipment and maintenance. Ability to lead and manage a team effectively. Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required). Ability to tow a trailer confidently and back into tight spaces. Strong communication skills (with crew and clients). Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in heat/cold, and perform physical labor. Time management & problem-solving ability. Detail-oriented and committed to property quality.
