Job Description
Most maintenance jobs come with an on-call phone. This one doesn't. Monday through Friday, You'll keep a unit CONFIRM—a unit community in Birmingham, looking like somewhere people want to live—and that's the whole job. What we pay and provide $16.00 - $18.00/hour , based on experience Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. All equipment, uniforms, and PPE provided Medical insurance 14 days paid time off + paid holidays Rent discount on-site What you'll do Grounds and common areas Keep grounds, breezeways, stairwells, and parking areas clean and free of debris Mow, edge, trim, and maintain landscaping and beds Handle trash pickup and keep dumpster areas orderly Pressure-wash walkways, breezeways, and building exteriors as needed Clear walkways and handle seasonal cleanup Property support Assist the maintenance team on unit turns and light repairs Help prepare vacant units for move-in Report safety hazards, damage, and maintenance issues you spot on your rounds Maintain equipment and keep the shop and storage areas organized Follow all safety procedures, including safe operation of powered equipment Residents Greet residents courteously and answer questions or point them to the right person Represent the community well—you're the most visible person on the property What you need Reliable attendance and the ability to work outdoors year-round Ability to operate basic landscaping equipment, or willingness to learn—we'll train you Courteous, professional presence with residents [Valid driver's license — CONFIRM if required at this property] No prior apartment experience required. If you've done landscaping, grounds work, warehouse work, or general labor and you show up reliably, we'll teach you the rest. Nice to have Prior grounds, landscaping, or apartment community experience Pressure washing or basic equipment maintenance experience Pool maintenance experience — we'll pay for your CPO certification Bilingual English/Spanish Where this goes This is the entry point into our maintenance team, and we mean that literally—several of our Lead Techs and Maintenance Supervisors started in grounds. If you want to become a technician, say so at the interview and we'll put the certification plan in writing. Physical requirements Lifting up to 50 lbs, extended standing and walking, bending, kneeling, and outdoor work in varying weather, including heat and cold.
