Job Description

Work on the ground assisting linemen with overhead and underground installations by providing materials as needed and observing work activities for potential safety concerns.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred prior experience involving the use and application of electrical terminology in a professional setting.
MENTAL:
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Perform basic arithmetic functions. Ability to learn and comprehend the primary aspects of the electric department operations. Ability to exercise constant alertness and awareness of the work environment.
PHYSICAL
See, hear, use both hands, and both feet while safely climbing ladders. Ability to use both pick and shovel without constraints. Ability to use basic hand tools and mechanical devices such as crimpers, pipe threaders, drills, saws, jackhammers, etc. Ability to frequently lift more than 100 pounds. The employee's body weight, fully clothed, wearing shoes or boots, and uniform appropriate for the season of the year, must not exceed 280 pounds.
OTHER:
Obtain and maintain a valid Arkansas Commercial Driver's License. Effectively communicate with customers and other employees with tact and common courtesy. Must live within a 30-minute response time of the intersection of Harkrider and Oak Streets in Conway.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work overtime when required. Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions. Noise levels may be very loud at times. Risks of electrical shock, excavation cave-ins, exposure to falling objects, etc., do exist, requiring the employee to be constantly on guard and to practice safety precautions at all times.
