TBD Position Summary The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and appearance of campus buildings and grounds. This position combines hands-on facility maintenance, custodial responsibilities, and groundskeeping to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Job Functions Facility Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine inspections of building exteriors (roof, façade, drainage systems) Conduct light carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting repairs. Repair wear and damage to buildings, fixtures, and equipment Service common area appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems Perform minor HVAC maintenance and repairs (filters, motors, basic troubleshooting) Maintain working knowledge of: Power and water shutoffs, Fire systems (extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, pumps), Generators and emergency systems Work Orders & Operations Generate, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders. Maintain accurate daily logs of completed tasks Evaluate repair needs and submit cost estimates and reports. Coordinate with and assist outside contractors on-site. Submit requests for specialized maintenance when required. Custodial Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and clean carpets Empty trash receptacles and maintain cleanliness of containers Clean windows, sills, furniture, and surfaces Maintain janitorial closets and equipment in safe, organized condition. Restock supplies in restrooms and common areas. Follow cleaning checklists to maintain high standards. Grounds Maintenance Mow lawns, trim hedges, edge walkways, and control weed Maintain flower beds and landscaping appearance. Clean parking lots, sidewalks, and exterior areas Remove debris and ensure campus grounds are presentable. Event Support Set up and tear down for campus events and ministries Open and secure buildings as needed for events. Provide general support to ensure event readiness. Safety & Compliance Ensure proper storage, labeling, and use of chemicals. Maintain updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Follow OSHA safety standards and procedures. Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Ensure hazardous materials are properly secured and disposed of. Inventory & Supplies Order, track, and maintain inventory of maintenance and custodial supplies. Manage tools, equipment, light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other materials. Monitor supply usage and stay within budget guidelines. General Requirements Proven handyman experience with working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance Ability to operate basic tools and maintenance equipment. Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work both independently and on a team. Strong communication and customer service skills Computer literacy for work order systems and reporting Dependable transportation and valid driver's license Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (90%+ of the workday) Full use of hands, arms, and legs for physical labor Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of 5 years of maintenance, facilities, or related experience preferred.
