Job Goal:
Maintains the outdoor appearance and safety of a property by tending to lawns, gardens, and other landscapes. They perform tasks such as mowing, weeding, planting flowers, and trimming shrubs to keep the grounds in excellent condition. This role also involves upkeep of walkways, parking lots, and other areas, often including snow removal or debris cleanup to ensure the space is functional and appealing year-round.
Minimum Qualifications:
Previous grounds maintenance experience desired
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license
Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
Vision and hearing are adequate to exercise duties in a safe manner
Satisfactory criminal background check
Core Job Functions:
Prune trees and trim hedges and plants to promote growth and improve appearance
Mow lawns with a hand riding mower
Prepare seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating the soil and adding fertilizer
Edge with hand or power equipment
Collect and dispose of leaves and refuse
Connect, repair, and regulate irrigation systems
Operate heavy equipment as it relates to grounds duties
Perform vehicle maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment
Assist in the construction and repair of sidewalks and fences
Delegate the work of others as assigned by the supervisor
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Report safety/security hazards and needs for major repairs in an expeditious manner
Assist in the maintenance of all outside game and play equipment areas
Follow district policies as outlined
Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors

Physical Requirements -
Heavy Work:
Ability to work extended periods of time in extreme temperatures (cold salad/sandwich prep, inventory for freezer & coolers)
Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable to the job.
Employee must be able to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing various duties, including but not limited to push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines.
Employee must stand constantly and walk frequently, lifting items of various sizes, up to 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to lift safely.
Employee may rarely be required to climb ladders, to perform various stocking, inventory, cleaning or maintenance tasks
Employees may be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, workplace restrictions, cold and/or hot temperatures, and loud noises
