At least one weekend day required. Lifting required. About Us Moscarillo's Garden Shoppe is a family-owned garden center, florist, and landscaping business serving Connecticut since 1933, with locations in West Hartford and Torrington. We grow much of what we sell, and our reputation is built on healthy plants, beautiful flowers, and people who know their stuff. We're looking for a Garden Center Yard Associate for our West Hartford location. Job Summary This is a hands-on, outdoor role for someone who likes to stay moving. You'll be the muscle behind the scenes and the helpful hand out front — loading bags of soil and mulch into customers' cars, unloading delivery trucks, keeping the yard stocked and organized, and making sure the whole outdoor area stays clean and safe. It's steady physical work in every season, and it's a big part of what makes shopping with us easy. No garden center experience needed — if you're dependable, friendly, and don't mind putting in an honest day's work outdoors, we'll show you the rest. Responsibilities Load bagged goods (soil, mulch, stone) and plants into customers' vehicles with care and a smile Unload delivery trucks and move product into the yard, nursery, and stocking areas Keep the yard stocked, faced, and organized so customers can find what they need Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the yard, nursery area, and outdoor displays — sweeping, tidying, and clearing debris Help water and maintain outdoor plants and nursery stock as needed Assist customers in the yard with finding products and answering basic questions Keep walkways, loading areas, and work zones clean, safe, and free of hazards Pitch in with the team wherever an extra set of hands is needed, especially on busy weekends Qualifications Ability to lift heavy items (bags of soil, mulch, and stone) repeatedly throughout a shift — lifting is a core part of this job Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather, spring through winter Dependable and punctual, with availability at least 3 days a week including one weekend day Friendly, helpful attitude with customers and coworkers alike Able to stay on your feet and keep moving through a full shift No prior experience required — a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are what count Join Us If you like working outside, staying active, and being part of a team that takes pride in a job well done, we'd love to meet you.
