LAWNS AND GROUNDS TECHNICIAN

Function of the Job This position is under the direct supervision of the Grounds Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining the lawns and grounds of the Community. Essential Job Responsibilities 1. Cut grass areas using push mower or riding mower. 2. Trim and edge grass around walkways, flower beds and other areas as needed using hand or power clippers, weed cutters and edging tools. 3. Clean sidewalks and driveways of grass clippings, leaves or other debris. 4. Prune trees and shrubs to shape and improve growth. Remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs using shears, power hedge trimmers or chain saws. 5. Weed and re-mulch flower/plant beds as needed. 6. Apply weed killers and other lawn chemicals as directed utilizing hand or automatic sprayers. 7. Rake and bag leaves, grass clippings or other debris as necessary. 8. Clean grounds of trash or other debris on a daily basis. 9. Remove dead or unwanted plants as directed by supervisor. 10. Lay sod, plant flowers, trees, and shrubs as directed. 11. Pressure wash driveways, sidewalks, and buildings utilizing power pressure equipment. 12. Repair and maintain irrigation systems. 13. Maintain, clean, and make minor repairs on equipment and tools. 14. Report to the Supervisor, Director of Compliance or Compliance Hotline, any questionable conduct or suspected violation of regulations or Alliance Community for Retirement Living, Inc. (ACRL) policies covering the delivery and/or billing of healthcare services. 15. Assume accountability in the employees' handbook. 16. Perform related and special duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or Grounds Supervisor. Qualifications

• High school education or equivalency is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Three or more months previous experience.
• Dexterous use of both hands.
• Physical ability to lift, push, or pull 40-50 pounds.
• Able to withstand wet, hot and cold weather.
• Possess good corrected vision, hearing, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling pulling, pushing, lifting and climbing ladders.
