Role Summary Beacon Fisheries is seeking a full-time dependable, hardworking, and autonomous Grounds Keeper and Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be directly responsible for the safety, cleanliness, upkeep, and visual presentation of our seafood processing plant and surrounding exterior grounds. Because our operations require rigorous sanitation and pristine environmental standards, this position plays a critical role in ensuring our facility remains hazard-free, compliant, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate thrives working independently, possesses strong physical stamina, and takes immense pride in maintaining a safe, professional, and orderly industrial workspace. Key Responsibilities Outdoor Grounds & Exterior Maintenance (~70%)

Site Upkeep:

Perform daily sweeping, litter removal, weed control, and pressure washing across loading docks, parking lots, exterior walkways, and receiving areas.

Waste Management:

Monitor exterior waste and recycling compactors, dumpsters, and byproduct staging areas to ensure strict adherence to environmental and sanitation standards.

Landscaping:

Maintain perimeter landscaping, trim overgrown vegetation, clear storm drains, and ensure outdoor areas are free of debris to prevent pest attraction.

Exterior Infrastructure:

Inspect and maintain perimeter fencing, gates, exterior lighting fixtures, and signage; perform minor concrete, asphalt, and building exterior touch-ups as needed.

Weather Preparedness:

Execute site-prep protocols during inclement weather events (e.g., securing loose items, clearing drainage paths, and managing storm preparation). Indoor Facility Maintenance & Support (~30%)

General Building Repairs:

Handle routine facility maintenance tasks, including minor drywall repair, painting, door/hinge adjustments, and basic carpentry.

Drain & Plumbing Checks:

Regularly inspect floor drains, grease traps, and interior washdown areas to ensure proper drainage and prevent clogs.

Safety & Compliance Support:

Assist the operations and safety teams by ensuring indoor walkways, exits, and safety equipment zones remain unobstructed and properly marked.

Cross-Department Assistance:

Provide backup support for general facility upkeep projects during scheduled plant maintenance shutdowns.

Qualifications & Requirements Physical Stamina & Fitness:

Must be in excellent physical condition, capable of prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and regularly lifting/moving heavy objects up to 50-75 lbs.

Autonomous Work Ethic:

Proven ability to manage a daily task list, prioritize safety and maintenance needs, and execute projects independently with minimal direct supervision.

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in groundskeeping, commercial landscaping, or facility maintenance—preferably within a manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or food-processing environment.

Safety Consciousness:

A strong commitment to workplace safety, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to OSHA standards, and safe operation of power tools and maintenance equipment.

Schedule Flexibility:

Willingness to work early shifts or adjust hours to accommodate facility operating schedules and weather-related maintenance demands.
