Foreman Job Summary:
The Groundman assists the tree care crew in various tasks related to tree care, pruning, removal, and general site maintenance. The position requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in physically demanding outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Tree Work:
Assist in tree pruning, removal, and other arboricultural tasks by clearing brush, branches, and debris from the worksite. Debris clean up is the main task in this position.
Equipment Handling:
Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, ropes, and rigging devices. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and follow proper safety protocols.
Site Preparation and Cleanup:
Prepare the worksite by setting up necessary equipment and safety barriers. Clean up the site after work is completed, ensuring all debris is properly disposed of and the area is left in good condition.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to company safety policies and procedures. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and be vigilant about safety for oneself and the crew.
Traffic Control:
Assist with traffic management around the job site, if necessary, by setting up cones, signs, and other traffic control measures.
Communication:
Effectively communicate with the crew leader, arborists, and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Customer Interaction:
Interact professionally and courteously with customers when on-site, representing the company in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior experience in tree care, landscaping, or a related field is preferred. Willingness to learn and undergo training is essential.
Physical Fitness:
Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform tasks that require strength and endurance.
Safety Knowledge:
Understanding of basic safety practices related to tree care operations, including the use of PPE, is required.
Driver's License:
A valid driver's license is preferred. The ability to drive trucks or operate larger vehicles may be a plus.
Teamwork:
Strong ability to work well in a team, follow instructions, and support crew members.
Communication Skills:
Basic communication skills for interacting with team members and customers.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. The role involves heavy lifting, bending, and physical exertion.
