Yard Crew Position Summary The role of a Yard Crew member plays a central role in ensuring all materials, and supplies required for customer projects and offsite crews are available, organized, and properly staged. The position requires strong product knowledge, the ability to anticipate inventory needs, and consistent coordination with the Yard Manager and other crew members. This role also oversees yard operations, including organization, safety, receiving, quality checks, and the staging of materials for upcoming projects. This position reports to the Yard Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving & Quality Control
- When a delivery truck arrives:
- Review the supporting paperwork provided by the driver.
- Confirm the products being delivered match the supporting paperwork.
- Confirm the products are in usable condition.
- Notify the Yard Manager of any discrepancies regarding products or documentation.
- Ensure the driver is in a safe location to remove all bands/strapping from the materials to be removed.
- Ensure the driver is safely out of the way prior to using any equipment to unload the materials from the delivery truck. Remain constantly aware of the driver and any other people in the immediate unloading area. Stop unloading if there are any safety concerns.
- Upon unloading and confirming there are no issues regarding the products delivered, sign and date the drivers paperwork.
Confirm:
- If there are any discrepancies, ensure they are noted in detail on all documents, including the documents kept by the delivery driver.
- Place all delivered products to their appropriate stocking locations, using the first in, first out methodology.
- Label delivered products per direction from the Yard Manager.
- Support the Yard Manager as directed regarding inventory counts or audits.
Outgoing Products:
As directed by theYard Manager:
o By using packing slips, place all designated products and quantities for that packing slip in the designated staging area. Mark the staged products with the Job Name, etc. Confirm product type and quantities for accuracy. o Keep all staged jobs clearly separated from one another. o Assist with loading of job materials onto SPro trucks or trailers if directed by the Yard Manager. o After the job is pulled, and staged, the paperwork is returned to the Yard Manager to be marked as completed. o Support the Yard Manager as directed regarding inventory counts or audits.General Tasks:
- Keep the yard clean. Remove damaged products, broken strap bands, etc. daily.
- Notify the Yard Manager if you suspect inventoried or non-inventoried product quantities are getting low.
- Participate in or conduct regular cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Complete supporting tasks as directed by the Yard Manager.
- Notify the Yard Manager of any equipment issues.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure yard activities comply with all company safety policies. Report hazards, incidents, or near-miss events promptly and help implement preventive measures.Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate all on-site equipment.
- O rganizational and multitasking skills.
- C ommunication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically able to withstand outdoor working conditions.
- Ability to lift/carry 80 lbs.
